The cacao beans are on the racks to dry with just enough space. I’m hoping that we get a little bit of sun tomorrow. It would help a lot. Post fermentation the beans have a 60% moisture content and we need to bring that down to about 8%. This can take anywhere between 2 weeks and up to a month on the rainy Hamakua coast.

On the other hand the rain is great for the trees and all the plants that I planted. Today I planted three breadfruit trees. The big one is an old air layer and two I just yanked out of the ground. All three came from the first Ma’afala ʻulu that we planted – the very first tree that Julia and I planted here in 2015.
