Enjoying tonight’s sunset as I write this post. Today I planted a black turmeric. There is a dark stripe going down the middle of the leaf unlike normal turmeric. Our friend Majidah shared a couple pieces with us in February and I planted out the healthiest one since it’s so hot out there right now. Hopefully this one will become the mother plant and we’ll be planting a row of this black turmeric in no time. Many of our other plants started out like this, as one root fragment, a couple cuttings, a few seeds.
I’m not exactly sure why this one is called black turmeric because it’s more like blue turmeric. Like a lot of other strange plant names, but I can’t think of any examples right now. But hey… nobody put me in charge of naming these things.
