Today I planted a fig tree that I got from Ken. Yesterday he decided to pull it out of the ground and he asked me if I wanted to plant it. The really cool thing about this tree is that the root made a big pretzel shaped deformation. It is definitely one of a kind. This one produces yellow skinned figs and there are a few more cuttings from this tree that I should plant ASAP.
I’ve never transplanted such a big fig tree so I’m not sure what the survival rate of this tree will be. I’m hoping that the roots won’t start rotting out with all of this rain we are getting. But you never know unless you try. I planted over 200 trees this year and I think only 4 of them didn’t make it so far.
The sobralia orchid produced two flowers! White with yellow center. These breathtaking flowers only last for one day and I am glad I noticed them to catch the show.
