I planted another durian tree next to the pineapple row where the turmeric is growing. You might be thinking what I’m doing planting trees next to pineapples.
Well between year 1 to 3 this area is sunny so I’m cultivating sun loving pineapples and turmeric. Year 3 to 5 we’ll be harvesting kava from this area and the cacao will start to flower. The pineapples will be moved to another sunny area.
By year 7 the cacao trees will be producing a lot of pods and closing the canopy. By year 10 to 15, or maybe even sooner the durians will be way taller than the cacao and hopefully start dropping it’s first fruits.
We have about 6 off season white pineapples this year. A couple of them will be ready next week!
