The white pineapples are developing very nicely and here we usually start harvesting them in early June. The seasons and changes are subtle in Hawaii but the fruits and blooms gives us distinctive cues like the jade vines sending down their peculiar aqua colored flowers. The stephanosis is also now starting to open their buds.
But not everything follows the same rhythm. This year a lot of cacao farms had their peak harvest happen already whereas some years the season goes on much longer with even a 2nd wave of pods. There are anomalies too, like we have this one cacao tree in the orchard that is producing tons of pods. I counted 92 and usually 80 is on the high end. The jaguar cacao tree is also dropping a bunch of pods and I’m thinking about doing a micro ferment.
Oh yeah, I planted another cacao tree today.
