Day 216: I planted another dragon fruit but this one is from the Mala'ai culinary garden

I planted another dragon fruit but this one is from the Mala’ai culinary garden at Waimea middle where Julia used to work as a FoodCorps service member. Julia went to go visit Holly today and she gifted us some extra plants they had. This dragon fruit was given to Holly by one of her students but she wasn’t sure what color it is. All we know is that “it’s a good one”, and sometimes that’s all you need to know.

The aftermath of the brush fire was very visible from the Mala’ai. Julia said beyond the grasslands and the pu’u it was all black and grey. Luckily the wind wasn’t blowing towards Waimea town.

The pink hibiscus 🌺 hedge is actually grown from cuttings from the Mala’ai. It took us 5 years to get this thing established because it’s really windy, dry and sunny in this spot.
