Back in 2007, I watched Bill Mollison’s Global Gardener series on youtube and learned about permaculture. That’s when I decided to get into farming. I married a horticultural engineer and we managed to become stewards of 2.5 acres on Hawaii Island. With a lot of helping hands we are planting trees, growing a lot of our own food, and now harvesting cacao from the trees we planted… nothing short of a miracle!
Another miracle is that I managed to plant something every day this year. So far the count is 31 trees, 13 shrubs/vines/bushes, and 11 bananas.
I’ve been saving the miracle berry tree to plant today. The fruit of the miracle berry coats your tongue with a taste modifier called miraculin that causes everything you eat to taste only sweet. Lemons and limes aren’t sour, and cacao pulp tastes extra amazing with it too!
Every day is a miracle. So do what you love doing and hopefully it will inspire others to do the same.
