Today I wanted to plant something red and green so I picked out a mangosteen seedling and a miniature anthurium from the nursery and planted them in a shady spot in the food forest.
I made a realization when our neighbor’s daughter turned 7 the other day. When we first moved here there was a huge 1st birthday party. Wow really….? time flies! Around the same time we planted our first mangosteen tree. Its a little taller than me now and it will take another 7 years for it to start fruiting.
Back then, the land was an empty plot with just grass. It was very windy and the cacao trees struggled to grow. It would have been unimaginable to plant shade loving anthuriums.
We’re feeling festive. Playing some xmas tunes while cooking. Julia is making a ratatouille and I am roasting a lamb leg. Happy holidays everyone!
