Day 90: There are aphids, leafhoppers, and cut worms, but our greatest garden pest is ac

There are aphids, leafhoppers, and cut worms, but our greatest garden pest is actually our cats. Especially this one because he will gnaw on the tops of young vegetables especially the onions, and most recently the little patch of utrecht blue spring wheat we are trying to grow. So today we sowed some wheatgrass in a pot just for the cat’s dietary needs. Hopefully Biebrich will start leaving the vegetable garden alone. Julia potted up a bunch of other seeds today too: lemon basil, catnip, kale, eggplant, and shiso. And it looks like we’ll have a small harvest of corn next week.

It’s day five for the cacao ferment and the beans are heating up. It’s not as hot as I’d want it to be but 100F is good enough for now. I might end up turning it again tomorrow to give it more oxygen. The party in the box continues…
