This morning a red-billed leiothrix was trapped in the drying house. It hopped on my finger to pose for shot and it flew away. I planted a breadfruit tree today, an Otea which is a Tahitian variety. It has similar growing habits as the Hawaiian breadfruit but the fruits are round and grows prolifically. Right now there is no breadfruit to be found since it’s not in season. We are hoping it starts back up in July. In the meantime we have taro and plantains to eat as staples.
Julia’s wheat patch is starting to develop grains. This is the first time we are successfully growing wheat from seeds in the garden. The garbanzo beans look much better than the previous batch. This is the 2nd generation and it’s going get easier from here. The next round of corn is throwing out their tassels too. The garden is going off right now with this nice weather. We harvested daikon, beets, taro and mizuna to have with our dinner.
