Today I planted another mangosteen tree. This seedling is maybe about a year and a half old. Mangosteens grow very slowly. The best time to plant one is about 10 years ago because thats how long it takes for it to start fruiting. The end result is totally worth it. I planted three other mangosteens so far and the oldest tree is about 7 years old and is still only 7 feet tall. Since mangosteens love moisture I planted it downhill from where our neighbor’s giant catchment tank overflows. It’s a spot on the land where the soil has consistent moisture and some of the healthiest trees are growing in this spot.
