Day 241: Today I planted another marang

Day 242: Today I planted another marang. These trees can get quite large but we are runni

Today I planted another marang. These trees can get quite large but we are running low on space. So I decided to plant it relatively close to the other one… about 8 feet. The proximity would ensure cross pollination, but we’ll see what happens. After all, in a natural forest there is no such thing as proper spacing.

With all the heat and humidity, our food forest is exploding with growth. As the days get shorter and cooler it’s now time to start chopping back the overgrowth. I finally got ourselves a pole saw to prune back high branches to allow more light to hit the understory. From now on not only do we have to make things grow, but we need to maintain most of the fruit trees at a reasonable height so we can pick the fruits.
