Today I planted a Pakistani Mulberry tree that Julia picked up at a nursery in Hilo. The fruits from this variety are slightly larger and longer than the common type mulberry that we already grow and are better for fresh eating. Julia said that they grow this type a lot in Turkey.
This reminded me about the time we travelled to Istanbul in 2012, one of the largest and oldest cities in Turkey. I thought that I uploaded a bunch of photos to Facebook then, but I couldn’t find the album. Here’s a few of photos from that trip. I remember that there was a fruit market right outside of the hotel we were staying at and they had huge baskets of freshly picked mulberries for sale with many other subtropical fruits grown locally.
