Tonight I trekked through the blizzard and planted another cacao tree… In case you didn’t hear about it, Hawaii is under a winter blizzard warning.
But its actually a comfortable 70F (21C) here and no wind or rain at the moment. It was raining most of the day and the ground is pretty soggy by now and that means it’s way easier to do planting. It’s pretty common for our volcanic island to get snow on it’s summits. Sometimes it gets snowed on in June.
The fermenting cacao beans are now on day 4 but they just started to heat up. I’m hoping by tomorrow morning it will start to create some steam. Here is some footage from day 2 when the yeast activity was at it’s peak.
