Tonight I went on a planting spree. I planted two varieties of the coleus cuttings that I potted up a month ago. Two mystery ‘cardamoms’, a mamaki, and I started a new sweet potato patch to cover the edge of the orchard.
I visited Joe’s farm today and got all inspired by his ground cover and shrub layer game. Joe hooked me up with a few more trees to help close out the year of planting. Nick who does excellent work at the farm became our third chocolate customer! Very excited to hear that the bar will be accompanying him on a trip to Mexico soon.
I noticed that our mango tree is in full bloom which is kind of unusual for this time of year. This is the first time it’s producing this many flowers though. It would be a miracle if I can get a fruit from this tree. We sprouted the mango from seed 9 years ago and it moved here with us. The fruit I recall was small and had orange and red skin. It was super sweet, floral aroma with no fibers and it had a tiny flat seed. I was so impressed by it that I decided I HAVE TO PLANT THIS.
