I somehow found two more spots to plant atom trees aka Dacryodes macrophylla. I planted three of these earlier this year and since you need females and a male tree I decided to get two more from Joe to increase our chances of success.
These trees from what I read can grow up to 80 feet ish. They are native to Cameroon and Gabon and it’s a popular red juicy fruit when in season. This fruit is really new to Hawaii and according to Joe I am the first person to ever plant one of these in the ground in the state. Atom can potentially be a great addition to the fruit scene here. I hope that I can be one of the first to harvest atom fruits in Hawaii!
