The Basics
Marang, Artocarpus odoratissimus, is a tree in the mulberry family, Moraceae, part of the same family as breadfruit, jackfruit, breadnut, and pedalai.
Origin and Habitat
Native to Borneo, the Philippines, and parts of Malaysia.
What It Looks Like
A spiky, oval fruit similar in general appearance to its Artocarpus relatives, though softer and less fibrous inside.
Uses and Flavor
Melty soft, milky sweet, almost like almond tofu in texture, and genuinely refreshing when fully ripe.

Planted right alongside the other Artocarpus experiments we keep collecting, adding to our growing set of breadfruit-family relatives.
Pests and Diseases to Watch For
Fruit flies on ripe fruit would be the main concern, in line with its Artocarpus relatives, though nothing specific to report from ours yet.
