Today I planted another seashore mangosteen in the shade where they like it. My friend Guy gifted me fresh mushrooms from the Locavore store in Hilo. I was super stoked because they were lion’s mane mushrooms and gray oyster mushrooms. I always wanted to try lions mane. It’s grown by a new mushroom farm on the Kona side called Mermaid Mushrooms and they grow all kinds. I always heard that lions mane has the same texture as crab. And it does! I fried the mushrooms in butter and garlic and added some chopped onion and parsley from the garden.

Lions mane mushroom contains compounds that can regenerate brain cells, improves functioning of the hippocampus to reduce anxiety and depression, stimulates the growth and repair of the nervous system, reduces inflammation, heals ulcers and protects digestive tract, promotes fat metabolism AND cleanses blood vessels. So basically it’s the healthiest and coolest mushroom ever that is crab-like. It was awesome.
