Cutting it close again. I returned home pretty late after spending the night and all day in Kona. Tonight I planted another dragon fruit with my headlamp on.
Earlier today I went snorkeling with my parents at two step beach. Unfortunately the dolphins didn’t show up but it felt really nice to dive deep into the ocean. Driving up Nāpōʻopoʻo road, I noticed all the dragon fruit growing like weeds in the scorching heat.
I drove back after dinner and it started to pour down heavy around Ahualoa all the way home. It’s good that I pre-dug a planting hole beforehand, otherwise I would have struggled in the dark.
Did you know that dragon fruits are night blooming? The main pollinators are moths and bats and they bloom for only one night.
