Today was a very strange day. First thing in the morning Hilary and her friend Mike went kayaking and returned with an ahi and a large ono. Did I mention they were on a kayak? After filleting the fish we wrapped the marinated ducks we slaughtered on Friday with bacon and I started to smoke them on our grill. Around noon I found a turtle walking on our driveway and I called around and found out it was our neighbor’s pet. Teddy the turtle returned home safely. To top it off Julia came home with a baby cat that was discovered at her workplace. It’s a very friendly cat and very vocal. However, we have reached our crazy cat people threshold at this point so if anyone wants to adopt this cat let us know!
To complete this very strange day I decided to plant a strange tree that I got from Ken Love. Guajilote or candle tree is a small ornamental tree that produces flowers right on its trunk like durian and cacao. It produces these yellow cucumber like fruits that are juicy and fibery and it tastes similar to sugar cane. I buried all the fish guts in the planting hole so I think this tree will have a great start.
