Today I planted a chempedak aka Artocarpus integer which is related to jackfruit and breadfruit. I planted one earlier in the year but in order to get good fruits it’s always a good idea to plant multiple trees when it comes to Artocarpus. The other chempedak narrowly escaped death from a falling banana. The cage it was in got a little bent up but the tree was unscathed. One of our cats has a bad habit of climbing up mature bananas and hopping off of it right before it crashes into the ground…
Speaking of cats, does anyone on Hawaii Island want a new cat? Julia found a gray cat with white socks and a tuxedo. Still not sure if it’s a boy or girl but it is friendly and doesn’t seem to be that afraid of humans. Tail is really bushy… maybe it has potential as a good ratter?
