Tonight I planted two maile vines. They were the last two that I snatched up at the state nursery plant sale. I could smell the fragrant scent of the leaves as I was carrying them. Because of this, maile is a very popular choice for lei and haku making.
Since the vine starts out thin and spindly, it’s good to plant two maile vines together so that they can wrap around each other and grow together. This reminded me of our friends Thao and Miller who were visiting us this week from Oahu. It’s always a pleasure to hang out with these two. Lots of great meals, conversations, and many adventures! I haven’t laughed this much in a long time. Thanks guys!
