Today I planted a giant lilikoi that I got as a cutting from Adam and Katie’s couple months ago. I planted it to climb up a neneleau tree that canopies over a main path. Cuttings are a great way to propagate most perennials. You just have to not let them dry out and provide the right environment and moisture for them to recover. With some patience and care, the cutting will start making roots and put out new leaves to photosynthesize.
Cassava, rosemary, basil, and most woody herbs, hibiscus, ti leaf, chaya are just some of the plants we grow from cuttings. Moringa, gliricidia, mulberry, figs, lilikoi… thousands of plants you can grow from cuttings, some are trickier to do.
I went back to Adam and Katie’s today for more cuttings: Thornless naranjilla, stick oregano, and rose geranium. As soon as I returned home I stuck them into a potting mix and watered them good. Hopefully I can plant them out in a few months from now.
